TANNISTESTEN 2014 - CAR OF THE YEAR 2015

Seznam kandidátů na evropský Vůz roku 2015 může být ještě rozšířen, ale při Tannistesten se opět testovalo podle předběžného...
Největší nezávislé testy nových osobních automobilů slavily 36 let od pořádání prvního ročníku, jehož další dějství se přesunula z dánského vnitrozemí až na severní cíp v Tannisby (Tversted). Tradiční týdenní testování se tentokrát pořádalo v Dánsku vůbec nejpozději v celé historii (začátek až 10. října), což bylo dáno nejen tím, že nové uspořádání evropské ankety COTY (Car of the Year) vrcholí vyhlášením vítěze až na Ženevském autosalonu v březnu následujícího roku, ale také tím, že pořádání Pařížského autosalonu 2014 bylo rovněž odloženo (tiskové dny 2. - 3. října). Oblíbené Tannistesten jsou největším nezávislým srovnáním nových osobních automobilů, z nichž vybírá odborná porota 57 motoristických novinářů ze 22 zemí nejprve sedm finalistů, a pak volí evropský Car of the Year, tedy Vůz roku, nejlepší novinku předcházející sezony (nyní Vůz roku 2015, uvedený v sezoně 2014). Dánské Tannistesten se konaly posedmatřicáté, ale posedmé, kdy jejich zakladatele Rogerse Sögaarda nahradil nový organizační tým, vedený finským novinářem Marttim Merilinnou, letos poprvé za vydatné asistence manželky, když Toni Jalovaara a Aleš Frontini z organizace odstoupili. Česká republika má v porotě nepřetržité zastoupení od roku 1990 prostřednictvím šéfredaktorů časopisu Automobil; první zástupce Ing. Milan Jozíf, dnes devětasedmdesátiletý (žije v Praze po odchodu na odpočinek), je nadále čestným členem jury COTY (nevolícím), ve funkci ho v roce 2000 vystřídal Ing. Tomáš Hyan (první volba COTY 2001).
Testy probíhají pod vedením severské skupiny šesti aktivních porotců COTY, jejímž vedoucím členem je Hakan Matson, prezident COTY 2015, ale také čestný člen poroty, paní Marianne Sternerová ze švédského časopisu Vi Bilägare, jednoho ze sedmi zakladatelů a patronů ankety, která už dlouhá léta v Sindalu řídí vozy při tzv. losím testu (vyhýbacím manévru). Původní výsledky těchto testů COTY v anglickém jazyce najdete stejně jako loni za článkem. Volba finalistů COTY je od ročníku 2012 posunuta, takže sedm nejúspěšnějších bude oznámeno 15. prosince 2014, přičemž evropský Vůz roku 2015 bude vyhlášen v pondělí 2. března v Ženevě.

VÝSLEDKY - ELK SINDAL TEST (14.10.2014)
The test consists of four sharp turns in 40 m. The car moves 4 m to the side (left-right turn) and drives 20 m before it moves back (right-left turn). The throttle is released just before the first turn.
VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT

69 km/h: ESP is activated but does not affect the steering. In a second attempt the car starts to oversteer sligthly but is easy to handle. The oversteering becomes worse in higher speeds.
New FORD MONDEO
Michelin 235/45 18
Very quick steering response - more direct than the Passat. Very good feeling of connection between steering wheel and front wheels. At 67 km/h the car slides a little but is not difficult to correct. At 69 the oversteering is worse. We tried at 73 km/h but it was too fast - the car felt very big and the driver was not quick enough to correct the behaviour.
MERCEDES-BENZ C 180
Continental Sport Contact 225/45 18 (not standard tyres!)
The car was equipped with Airmatic suspension. No problem to pass the test up to 71 km/h. The steering is very precise. In higher speeds it oversteers but it helps the driver to handle the car. One of the best cars to drive in this test.
But:
We also tested a C-class with normal suspension and ContiSportContact 225/50 17 and noticed a clear tendency to oversteer. The speed was 70 km/h.
INFINITI Q50 2.0t
Dunlop ST Sport Maxx 245/40 19
68 km/h: Passes the test without problems but in higher speeds the steering becomes more heavy. In 73 km/h the car understeers out of the track. Tendency to jump with the outer front wheel.
CITROËN C1, PEUGEOT 108, TOYOTA AYGO

Already in speeds around 64-67 km/h all the cars roll violently and are difficult to steer. The steering response is weak. They are rather terrible to drive in the test. The spectators claim that it looks like the front panels of the cars nearly touch the ground in the turns.
RENAULT TWINGO

In spite of more than three steering wheel laps the car is easy to drive through the test. Rather firm chassis helps the handling. In 69 km/h ESP is active and brings down the speed. Safe behaviour.
SUZUKI CELERIO
Bridgestone Ecopia 165/65 14
3,5 steering wheel laps. Already in 62 km/h the car rolls heavily but passes the test. In higher speeds the roll becomes worse. Difficult to handle. The behaviour is a bit more stable if the driver turns the steering wheel more brutal. When we enter the test in 70 km/h the ESP works very hard and the speed out of the test is 30 km/h! In 73 km/h the ESP interference is so violent, that the car becomes impossible to steer.
HYUNDAI i20
Michelin Energy Save 195/55 16
Very good behaviour up to 66 km/h. In 70 km/h the car starts to understeer - the steering response is weak and the car slides right out of the track with the front wheels turned.
MINI COOPER D 5d
Pirelli P Zero 205/45 17
Lovely, quick steering! In 71 km/h it passes the test and that is the limit. In higher speed ESP works hard and the car rolls more than expected. When ESP is active, the steering is affected and the car understeers more and more.
ŠKODA FABIA
Bridgestone Turanza 215/45 16
Very good steering, which reminds of VW Passat. Rather firm chassis. ESP is activated in 69 km/h but does not interfer with the steering. Tha car feels stable and realiable. 72 km/h is too fast and the car understeers out of the track in the last bend.
OPEL CORSA
Continental Eco Contact 215/45 17
Passes the test in 69 km/h. Very quick and responsive steering. The car rolls, but only slightly. In higher speeds the steering locks a bit and becomes heavy due to ESP interference.
CITROËN C4 CACTUS
Good Year Efficient Grip 205/50 17
Very hard ESP already in 65 km/h. The body rolls much. Soft and unprecise steering makes it difficult to direct the car in the turns. In 70 km/h the car understeers out of the track due to violent interference from the ESP.
KIA SOUL
Nexen N Blue 235/45 18
Passes the test in 68 km/h but rolls heavily. Slides on the tyres. The steering has an unprecise response. ESP works probably, but unnotable.
KIA SOUL EV
Kumho 7 Ecowing 205/60 16
The car feels very heavy - like a Potemkin! In spite of understeering it passes the test in 67 km/h.
NISSAN PULSAR
Conti Sport Contact 205/50 17
Already in 65 km/h it rolls a lot. Steering is slow. When we raised the speed to 68 we could hear the ESP work, but did not feel it. 70 km/h was too fast and the understeering was to difficult to correct.
FORD ECOSPORT
Good Year Assurance Fuel Max 205/60 16
Passed the test in 64 km/h and in higher speed it was impossible to handle due to violent ESP intervencion. Very severe roll. The car felt unsafe to drive.
BMW 2 ACTIVE TOURER
Michelin Primacy 3 205/55 17
ESP starts to work in 67 km/h but the car is still possible to handle without problem. The speed out of the track is 30 km/h. Steering is not affected. We passed the test also in 69 km/h but with more roll. An attempt in 74 km/h was not successful.
MERCEDES-BENZ GLA
Yokohama C-drive2 235/50 18
In 67 km/h there is a clear tendency to oversteer but ESP works very well with the steering. Quick and nice steering. Oversteering becomes worse, in 70 km/h it pushes the car in the turns and helps the driver to maintain the control. In 72 km/h the oversteering increases and the car slides out of the track.
LEXUS NX 300h
Bridgestone Dueller 225/60 18
64 km/h: Like a ship in a storm, the tyres slide and the body rolls heavily. We must lower the speed to 58 km/h before it is possible to pass the test without kicking cones. Also in the low speed the body rolls very much.
NISSAN QASHQAI
Continental Eco Contact 205/60 17
ESP starts to work already in the first (left) turn, brutally! We manage to pass the test in 69 km/h but with a very strong braking assistance from the ESP system. We do not rise the speed more.
NISSAN X-TRAIL
Godd Year Efficient Grip 225/55 19
The same behaviour as Quashqai. ESP nearly brought the car to a stop. Maximum speed was 67 km/h.
BMW X4 xDrive35i
Michelin Primacy 3 Rear: 275/40 19 Front: 245/45 19.
Strange ESP interference in 68 km/h. Left front wheel locked and the car took a jump out to the left. Maximum speed to pass the test was 67 km/h. In higher speed the tyres slided. The understeering was marginal.
PORSCHE MACAN S Diesel
Michelin Latitude sport Rear: 295/35 21 Front: 265/40 21.
The tyres "rubbed" but we passed the test in 67 km/h. In 68 and 69 km/h the car started to jump on it´s tyres and understeered.
BMW 220d Coupé
Bridgestone Potenza Rear: 245/35 18 Front: 225/40 18
We managed to drive in 73 km/h, with an elegant touch of oversteering. One of the best cars. In higher speeds the driver was not fast enough with the steering wheel. The limit of the car is probably higher.
AUDI TT Coupé
Hankook Ventus 245/35 19
Pure go kart feeling. Very quick steering. In 69 km/h there were no problems. In 72 km/h the car started to oversteer, but it was easy to correct it. 74 km/h was too fast and the oversteering became to wide.
SUBARU WRX STI

The steering locked a little in the last turn when the speed was 72 km/h. In 69 km/h there were no problems to drive through the test. In 74 km/h the steering locked again but the car passed the test. In 75 km/h the understeering was too difficult and the car went out of the track.
MERCEDES-BENZ S 500 Coupé
Michelin Pilot Sport Rear: 275/40 19 Front: 245/45 19
Too big for this narrow track! Difficult to handle already in 66 km/h. The steering is heavy and the car understeers. With the active body control set to "curve" we managed to pass all four turns in 67 km/h.
